Definition: A condition where the first metatarsal bone in the foot is rotated and angled away from the second metatarsal bone. The angle that results between the first and second metatarsals is called the first intermetatarsal angle. This angle measurement is important to your foot doctor and helps him or her in determining which surgical procedure is needed for your bunion surgery. Metatarsus primus varus usually occurs along with a bunion and hallux valgus.
